Moving-day Rescue

My name is Pedro. I grew up in Portugal surrounded by arts, theatre, dance and literature, where I learned the value of genuine human connection. When the financial crisis hit, I changed paths and moved to the UK, where I spent a decade working in marketing for InsurTech and FinTech startups in Canary Wharf. It was a fast-paced environment, but more recently the rapid rise of agentic AI left me out of a job. That moment served as a wake-up call to build something real, tangible and rooted in traditional hospitality, much like my parents’ coffee shop.

Moving house is notoriously one of life’s most stressful events, yet the entire industry treats you like an inconvenience. When you need basic moving essentials like boxes and bubble wrap, you are shoved through an impersonal online checkout with zero guidance. There are few feelings more frustrating than refreshing a tracking link only to watch the “delayed” status pop up. Half the time deliveries turn up battered, or you realise you bought flimsy single-walled cartons that cannot protect a single mug. The only alternative seems to be trekking out to some retail park beyond the M25, wasting time that could be spent on what matters most: packing up!

I believe that even something as simple as buying cardboard moving boxes should come with outstanding customer service. Inspired by my osteopath, entrepreneur and best friend, Ricardo, I set out to create a local business in Hackney where people could compare sizes and quality of moving boxes in person. More importantly, I wanted to take the anxiety out of packing week: If you run out of removal cartons, tape or bubble wrap mid-move, we can deliver to you within minutes. And so, Rush Rush Boxes London was born.
